This is book two in Sophia Henry's PilotSeries and what can I say but absolutely loved it.
We meet Landon Taylor a young up and coming Pilot Player waiting for his chance to play in the NHL.
Growing up in the Detroit area with his family he meets as a child Gabby Bertucci and has had a crush his whole life.
Gabby Bertucci a young girl works for her family and being the only girl has her struggles feeling accepted and respected by her family. Gabby goes through a horrible experience as a teenager but tries to overcome all her fears.
When a near tragic event happens in her life Landon is their to hold her hand and who happens to be her crush. There relationship takes on more than just friendship but being young they must go through some ups and downs to get to hopefully that HEA.
If you are a fan of Hockey, Romance and everything in between then this is not only the book you should read but the series you should read.

The characters in Power Play are very relatable. Gabby’s development & strength as she gets to know Landon made this such an enjoyable read!
I loved book 2 in Sophia Henry's series. Her characters are believable and I was emotionally vested from the beginning to the end. I also enjoyed the increased heat level in comparison to Delayed Penalty (book 1). There was a bit more spice without being too much. Looking forward to book 3!
When we meet Gaby while she is working at her family's store we find out she has always crushed on Landon - a minor league hockey player that has come into her store weekly since he was a baby. When he helps her in a difficult situation they become closer. I loved watching Gaby and Landon become closer while overcoming many obstacles thrown into their path. Power Play had the perfect ending for my heart!! Can't wait for book number three!
Sophia Henry has two great books in this hockey series so far and I'm really looking forward to more. It's light on the hockey (in case you aren't a huge hockey fan and don't know a lot about the sport) and heavy on the romance.
Gaby and Landon have known each other for years, she was even his first kiss, even though she doesn't remember it. She's had a crush on him forever but she doesn't think he's ever really noticed her. This is the story of how they find each other and how they fall in love.
Power play is the first book I've read by Sophia Henry, and it won't be the last! It grabbed my interest from the first page and kept me reading until I finished the book. There's a good mix of parallel plot lines--Gaby fighting to be relevant in the family business, along with her determination to not let an incident in the past control her future. Landon is lifelong family friend, plays hockey for the hometown AHL affiliate, and Gaby's secret crush for years. It's a sweet, modern romance with just the right amount of sizzle. I hope that Landon and Gaby's relationship continues to grow in future books.
Minor league hockey player Landon Taylor has had a crush on Gabriella Bertucci since the day he met her. Gabriella has secretly been crushing on Landon, but she doesn't realize Landon is ready to make his move and Gabriella is the target. Gabriella works in her families produce business, she is often overlooked by all that she does though and as Landon becomes a bigger part in her life she begins to believe in her ideas more. Landon though is struggling with wanting to be called up and taking the next step in his Hockey career, Gabriella offers him an insight he needs. Although they are new, Landon doesn't know everything about Gabriella and will he accept everything about her once he finds out?
This is a fantastic series. I liked Landon, he knows who he wants in his life and I thought his courtship of Gabriella was really sweet. Gabriella is a wonderful character, she is dealing with a hard issue and I was overwhelmed by how courageous she was. Excellent series, one to pick up if you have not already.
I enjoyed the characters of this book, but the writing style was a bit unorthodox. One minute the main character will bring up something that happened, but then it will be forgotten with no explanation when the current dialogue continues. It just felt stilted and I think it could have been developed more. None the less, the concept of the book was interesting, and I don't regret reading it.

When a crisis occurs in the store while Landon is there, he steps in and helps her keep a cool head. He checks back in with her a few days later and lets it be known that he's interested in her.
Gaby has had some difficult times in the past, and doesn't know if she can trust that Landon really cares about her, but she decides to give in to temptation and go out with him. Will there be a future between the two of them, or is Landon just playing her until something new comes along?
